- Every question was put to Claude, ChatGPT, Copilot, Gemini, Google AI Overviews from a connection in United Kingdom, in two runs, 500 answers in all.
- A judge model read each answer and listed every business it named, whether the answer linked to that business, where it first appeared and how it was described. Names are merged on a normalised form and known websites are attached where the answer linked to them.
- Marketplaces, finance providers, manufacturers, service chains and reference sites are classified and kept out of the seller leaderboard. They are reported separately where they matter.
- Each question was asked once per assistant per run. A single cell can turn on chance; the pattern across the study is the finding.
- This measures being named, not being visited or chosen. Appearing in an answer is the first condition of being considered.
